iPhone 2.0 Geek-out
July 10th, 2008
The iPhone 2.0 software is here! I installed it this morning and have been installing new apps from the App Store ever since.
I used to think that web apps were just fine and native apps were “nice,” but not really a must-have, but just checking out these new free apps have convinced me. I can’t wait to see what developers come up with in the next year. I love the NetNewsWire app. I already sync my NetNewsWire feed reader between my work and home computers, and this iPhone app completes it for me. I now have all my feeds and my read and unread status synced anywhere I am.
One of the great, great additions, from a web developer’s standpoint is the ability to take screenshots natively by holding the home-button and clicking the lock-button. It saves the screenshot to your camera roll. This is perfect for troubleshooting quirky problems in mobile Safari and showing others exactly what the web page looks like when its broken.
…for example, TimChes.com (I know, shameful)…
Yeah, I’m too lazy to make it work, but I’ll be sure to make it iPhone-friendly in the next version.
