First Video for an Digital SLR
September 2nd, 2008
Just after Canon wowed everyone with their new 50d, Nikon counters with a first in the business - a dSLR that does video. The HD video it produces is great quality since you get to use all your lenses with it.
UPDATE: Canon counters with the announcement of their 5D mkII, with also has HD video. Unfortunately, it’s still in a higher price bracket than the d90. This will undoubtedly trickle down to their 50d line eventually.

Yeah, these videos are quite amazing, albeit being skeptical at first. It makes perfect sense however, since these sensors are bigger than most camcorders, plus the shallow depth from SLR lenses really makes for some nice video. I wouldn’t mind a firmware update to my D700, even if there is no mic… silent movies would be fine.
